Welcome to the website of the 2024 meeting on X-ray fluorescence imaging (MA‑XRF) and reflectance imaging spectroscopy (RIS).
The Registration for the meeting is now closed.
Meeting Sites: The first three days of the conference (June 4, 5, 6) will be held at The George Washington University Science and Engineering Building (located on 22nd St between I and H St NW). The last day of the conference, Friday June 7, will be held in the West Building Lecture Hall at the National Gallery of Art (6th and Constitution Ave NW).
Draft Schedule: The meeting starts on the morning of June 4 and finishes on Friday June 7 at 1 pm.
Hotel Accommodations: For those of you looking for hotel accommodations, the Foggy Bottom neighborhood is the area around the GWU campus. The closest metro stop is Foggy Bottom-GWU which services the orange, blue, and silver metro lines (https://www.wmata.com/schedules/maps/). We understand hotel prices in Washington DC can be expensive. Staying in Virginia near a metro line may be a way to save money.
Social Event: The social event will be held on Wednesday June 5 after the last afternoon session at Tonic At Quigley's, which is located close to the George Washington University Science and Engineering Building. Drink tickets and appetizers will be provided. Rather than a sit-down dinner the event will allow more opportunities for socializing.
Meeting Topics: As in prior meetings, topics of interest will include the investigation of cultural heritage objects (Fine arts to historical artifacts) using MA‑XRF and RIS. Both full-length talks (about 20 minutes) and short talks in lieu of posters (5 minutes) are currently planned. Areas of interest for these talks include:
- Case studies using one or both of the techniques.
- Advances in instrumentation.
- Developments in analysis workflows.
- New algorithms, especially using Machine Learning.
